NSW Residents
In addition to your emailed/downloadable State of Attainment, you will be physically mailed your NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate issued by NSW Food Authority. This is a requirement to operate as a Food Safety Supervisor in NSW.
- There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
- Minimum age of entry is 15 years of age, unless otherwise stated.
- Students must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply.

- A Third Party Report will need to be filled out for this unit.

Now, here’s what you need to do for your course:
- For Retail or Restaurant Work:
You’ll need to work/volunteer three shifts in a food business like a store or restaurant. - For Health or Community Services:
You’ll work/volunteer in places that serve food, like daycares or nursing homes.In both cases:
You arrange where you’ll work (it can be your job or volunteer work).Your observer will watch you do food-related tasks. They’ll fill out a report on how well you did.
This hands-on experience is a key part of earning your food safety qualifications.
- For Retail or Restaurant Work:

RPL, or Recognition of Prior Learning, is a way for you to get credit for the skills and knowledge you’ve gained through your work experience or informal learning. If you’ve been in the food business for a while, you might have picked up a lot of valuable know-how that deserves recognition. You can take our quick quiz to determine if you may qualify for RPL.
To apply for RPL
- Enrol in the course of your choice as normal to gain access to the course training materials.
- You will be given the option to complete an RPL form and provide the required documentation.
- If your RPL claim is denied, you can continue on with the training material.

Your Official Food Safety Wallet Card will be physically mailed to you and should arrive in the next 10-14 days.
NSW Students:
In addition to your emailed State of Attainment, your physical NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and registration with the NSW Food Authority will be completed and mailed with your wallet care.
